Trunk or Treat
Last weekend Jory went to Colorado for work. I stayed home with Lincs and so we went to the Trunk or Treat at our Church. We had a pot luck dinner and then everyone went out to the parking lot and all the kids went "Trunk or Treating" to each of the cars. Kind of neat. One of my Laurels came and took Lincoln Trunk or Treating with her siblings. Sooo nice! Thanks Brens!
This year, Lincs is going to be a monkey for Halloween. I'm so excited. I love how cute he looks in this costume. Never fails to put a smile on my face.

Before & After
I recently taught a class at a Charter High School and it was amazing. Guess what I taught? Yeap, that's right-Photography. I love teaching a lot. The dream is to go back to school and get my degree so that I can teach on a collage level one day. While teaching, I asked the students if they knew when the best time of day was to shoot. One student said at noon. Ummmm.... no, but thanks for playing. That is actually the WORST time of day to shoot for lighting. However, when shooting a wedding, sometimes (or all of the time) it is out of your control when you shoot.
One of my recent clients was married the beginning of September and we shot her and her new husband about 2:30pm at the Mt.Timp Temple. Beautiful day, but bad lighting as it was "high noon" so to speak. You would think that it would be perfect with all that light, but in order to have the couple's skin tones completely exposed correctly, you blow out the background. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but since the Temple is part of your composition, it is a huge problem. If you expose for the Temple correctly, the faces of the couple will be black. Even worse... Thank goodness for Photo Shop. It TRULY is a life savor. Thanks to this blessed program, I was able to go from this... (this is right out of my camera, no editing done. My photos NEVER look like this unless I shoot this time of day out in an area like this!)
To THIS...
They ordered a 20x24 of this image, so it I wanted it perfect. I spent a lot of time editing this image and love how it turned out. Any questions?
AHEM...
Dear Tammy,
I know you are anxiously awaiting pics of Mr.Lincoln (and BELIEVE ME, I have MANY!)
I will hopefully be posting some soon-life never seems to slow down! Just WAIT till you see him in his Halloween Costume! You will die of giggles.

Night Shooting
I am so motivated to go out and do more shooting of different things. I LOVE shooting people-it's by far my favorite-but I am itching for new things. Night shooting became my secret shame about a year ago in one of my class at UVU. My teacher was so inspiring so I blame him. God bless Travis Lovell. Here's some recent work. Hope you love as much as I do!
The above photo was taken this summer up by the Draper temple, coming down the mountain. We were there about 10:30pm and I did about a 3-5 second exposure on this one. I love night scape photography. It would be AMAZING to be able to go do this in New York City one day.
One of my bride's got married on the mountain side over looking Utah County. It was insane. Gorgeous silhouette with brilliant colours of a romantic sunset.
This was taken around the same time. I metered my light and got a different exposure so to get the temple and valley exposed.
I clearly realize this image is out of focus. But it was intended to be that way. Sometimes art isn't what we expect it to be and to each their own. I am in love with this image and plan to hang this on my wall. Just not sure where or what size. Any ideas?

*playing toys (he esp likes paper???)
*LOVES books
*eating baby food (carrots and peas are his favs so far)
*loves friends
*LOVES to check himself out whether it be in the mirror or pictures
*still wants to be held all the time
*enjoys going for walks
*talks and talks-sometimes REALLY loud

On Location...
Look at that cute chubby face! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
These images were taken by one of my best friends who was at a recent wedding with me last month. I shot the wedding and she did the hair and make up. It was such a fun day to hang out and do what we both love to do! I was so happy she told me to hand over the camera so she could take some hilarious shots of me and my boy!
Here's one I took of her that I think is darling! Thanks Gubs!

6 Months Stats
We saw Dr. Clayton on Thursday and here's what's going on...
Weight 16.15 lbs
Height 25.5 inches
Head... huge!
Lincoln was told he has perfect motor, developmental and social skills. The Doctor was very impressed with the fact that Lincoln was sitting with out help on my lap. He said that shows he has very strong muscles. Ummmm... yeah, he uses those muscles to fight me every time I try and snuggle him, wipe his nose or put his clothes on.
While we were waiting, Lincoln started gabbing to himself as he was looking around. He has quite the set of lungs these days. So when Dr. Clayton came in, he said, "Wow, you sure have some stories to tell! I could hear you clear down the hall." Yeap, that's our Lincoln.
Of course we had more shots followed by lots of screaming. Poor kid. One day he'll learn it's for his own good. They always put the cutest band-aids on his thunder thighs. I had to take a pic. Too cute...
I truly believe Lincs is advanced and will grow up to be brilliant. I was talking with one of my girlfriends the other day and told her how I've always felt Lincoln has never really been a baby, but a little boy trapped in a baby's body. He already knows what he wants constantly but seems frustrated that he can't always communicate what it is. He does know certain words however, and expresses specific emotions (good or bad) when these words are said.
I just finished editing his 6 months portraits. I'm so happy with them. They are beautiful and I couldn't be more pleased. Until tomorrow (or the next week)...

Good Times
My poor baby is sick today. I feel so bad. He's warm, cranky, needs to be held (yeah, more then usual) and has a super runny nose. I thought his sleep habits would be better today, but not at all!
So there we were laying on the floor, camera in hand, so I took advantage and here we are having some good times together. PS-This was not today either-he did NOT look this happy! =D

Out of the Mouth of Bugs
My niece cracks me right up. I was watching her this morning and we had several conversations that quite amused me. Here was my favorite...
Bug: "I'm not a cousin."
Sherry: Yes you are, you are Lincoln's cousin."
Bugs: "No I'm not!"
Sherry: "But why not? Lincoln wants you to be his cousin."
Bugs: "I know. I'm bery sorry but I just don't want to be cousins right now."
"But Sher, can i just play toys a little longer."
Sherry: "Of course you can."
Bugs: "Oh thanks so much!"

Happy Half Year Baby!
That may be a cheesey title, but I don't care. I can't believe my baby is half a year today. I know the next 6 months will probably go by even faster then the first 6 months! We went and did a little photo shoot today and it DID go by much better then the last. Of course, just when I thought I had the perfect spot and lighting all picked out, it started pouring. Not only that, but it started hailing! Hauling him in his car seat, a diaper bag and my heavy camera bag was a challenge. But it was worth it. I have some beautiful shots of him. More to come soon.
Oh and don't die of shock, but I have a loaf of Banana Bread in the oven. I'll keep you posted on whether or not it actually tasted good.

5 Months Portraits
I wanted to rip out my hair on this session. I'm not going to lie-Lincs was a PILL!! He was just all over the place doing his own thing-much like his father. These didn't turn out that great and I know it will only get worse from here, so please spare me that comment! To see more, please see my portrait blog
http://srwportraits.blogspot.com/
This seriously was pretty much the best one. They don't get better from here...
From here on out, I just stuck him on the couch cuz I thought I was going to loose my mind! And this is what he gave me...
I do think these are just hilarious. However, they weren't at the time. We'll see what we can come up with this week.

Pre Portrait Blues
Before I get into the title of the post, I wanted to say that today was a pretty good day! I was asked my one of my Young Woman's to come to her school and teach their class more on Photography. Ummmm... HELLO! Heck yeah! I LOVED it! It was a confirmation of what I (still) want to do. I had a friend watch Lincs (which I can't express enough gratitude cuz it's so hard for me to ask people to do this) and afterwards we sat and talked for a while. Loved that too. I also went to Scott Hancock's Studio as his daughter is getting married this weekend and they are having me shoot this. SOLO! Nervous? You bet! But they wanted me to sign the portraits she had decided to blow up. It was such an honour to see someone love my work so much that they'd print huge ones! We came home for a while and just hung out and then went to do a photo shoot. I was sooo nervous with the weather being the way it was, but the images turned out AMAZING! I'm so excited to start working on those. I have been shooting and editing like crazy and it's been such a blessing in so many ways.
So, I have been faithful on taking portraits of Lincs once a month since he's been born. Yes, I have asked myself time and time again what I got myself into. Oh well, can't quit now! When I took these (which was clearly almost a month ago) I was trying to find something for him to wear. I love hats and found the one below and it SAID 6 months. I figured I was safe since he was only 5 months. Oh no... little chubbers has a huge head! As you can see below, it was not a good fit. Still, it made me laugh SOOOOO hard when I saw him wear this that I couldn't resist.
ROFL!!! Wasn't that great??
The next few are just random favs from a feeding session. Man this boy loves bananas! He also gets that from the Bennetts. This was always our favourite growing up. I don't know one sibling that didn't love bananas in our house.
