The Touch of a Master's Hand

Being poor isn't a whole lot of fun. However, it does force you to be creative. I never realized how expensive dressers were until we went looking for one for our baby. Yikes... Totally out of our price range right now. So, we went looking at the thrift stores to see what we could come up with. I was shocked at how junky a lot of things were and the prices they were asking. I mean seriously... The DI in Provo is the worst just an FYI. The one we found pictured below is seriously the best one we could find. When I first saw it and the price, I about threw up! But Jory promised he could make it look really nice. Although I was still hesitant, we went ahead and got it.

Jory really pulled it off though. I'm quite impressed. At first he had just painted it black and it really looked a lot better. Then he suggested putting a slab of granite on top. I thought it looked just fine, but he came home one morning with the slab and put it on and WOW... I'm so grateful that he does have an eye for things like this. I mean LOOK at that before pic!! He's done a lot of cool stuff around the house and one day I'll get around to posting those too, but for now-I have a left over banana and brownie shake in the freezer calling my name.

That is awesome! You know the stuff you find and fix really is the best anyway. I love old stuff turned into something new. Way to go guys!

Great Job Jory!! Looks good. I spent most of my pregnancy with Kyler sanding and repainting the crib I slept in as a baby. Sometimes being poor and finding ways to make it work makes you love things all the more.

Not too long left now. He'll be here before you know it.

It looks amazing! Jory - what a talented man you are!

The older stuff was built a lot better, too! Gavin is using the same dresser that my mom found at a thrift store for me to use when I was in college. More than 10 years running . . . 4 states and 2 countries since we've been its proud owner! ;)

Petersons-I agree!! The older stuff is better quality by far!

Laura-the pic in the frame is a bunch of jungle animals. Jor's mom found it somewhere and gave it to us. I love the frame and its colour!
